Henna is a small plant generally grown in hot and dry climates; its leaves are grinded into a powder. The powder gives us a copper colored pigment after mixing with some ingredients. Actually henna colour last for 2 weeks. It depends on where the design is done. Henna works by giving permanent colour to the outer layers of the epidermis. So the dark henna darkens the colour of henna design.

Henna likes the skin to be thick, dry and more alkaline than acidic. The palms and the feet stain the darkest and it may last the longest. Henna colour can be shed on using strong soap and hand washing. After putting on henna designs one should not wash the skin for atleast twelve hours. By adding necessary oils in Henna Paste it releases beautiful copper colour on the skin. While drawing henna design on hands, we have made sure the skin is oily or lotion free specially in summer which will block henna taking to the skin. If any of the above lotions are on the skin, wash with soap and water. Henna reacts with the temperature of the skin, so it is not getting the darken colour quickly. Firstly it get orange colour. This is normal colour but it get darken within a day. Only when ones go to sleep your temperature rises and your skin sweats, so this is when henna is changing colour to dark brown. |
The length of Henna design will stay depending upon certain factors:-
• How many times you wash your hands
• What kind of soap you use
• Your skin quality and heat in your body
• Which particular part of the Henna on the body
• The material you add to your henna paste
